DEAR ST. ANDREW’S FAMILY,

As we near the end of Holy Week, you are invited to take part in the annual Walk of the Cross, which departs from Rotary Park at 8:45 a.m. Friday. First stop is the front entrance to St. Andrew’s, where we will listen to scripture and pray as we begin to recount the Lord’s final hours. We will then travel up St. George Street and then back with several stops along the way. The hope is that this public witness will unite us with Him in a deeper way.

Following the walk, please join other believers for the annual Good Friday worship hosted by Evangel Pentecostal Tabernacle and Pastor Rob Elka. Message from Pastor Ron Bartolo and music by the Sit Family. Pastor Andy will be leading The Lord’s Supper.

For many believers, Easter Sunday is the Holiest day of the year. The empty tomb and the beginning of the Lord’s risen appearances marks the turning point in human history and the birth of the church in its current form.

Finally, a gentle reminder of the importance of exercising our God-given democratic freedom to vote. While I am wondering about the appropriateness of holding advance polls throughout the Easter weekend, I am going to bury my concern and see the bright side. The freedom we have in Christ (freedom from the penalty for sins) can be demonstrated in our Christian walk, to discern who might lead our governing authorities: “All authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God” – Romans 13:1.

SCRIPTURES THIS WEEK – Matthew 28:1-7, 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 and Colossians 1:15-20.

MESSAGE – When we consider who Christ is (“the visible image of the invisible God”) the fact that He wants our souls to be washed clean and our spirits revived to be more like Him leaves me speechless.

Paul goes on and on about the Lord’s majesty and glory. In human terms, it’s too much. I am blown away by people who tell me Christ doesn’t want them because they’re no good. In one sense, they are correct. They are no good. Truly, none of us are any good. But why would God go to great lengths to put on human flesh and live with us and die? He didn’t do it because He could. He didn’t do it for show. He did it to save the world. The world is saved one soul at a time.
