Gospel ads

Maybe you’ve noticed our ads in the Coffee Times and The Herald. Every week, we publish a new bit of scripture and a link to our website, where we expand on the verse. It’s designed as an introduction to the amazing relationship we can have with the Creator.

Here are a collection of past verses and discussions.

“So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” John 1:14

The Creator of the Universe is not a force. God is a being and He shows up as either Father, Son or Holy Spirit. Not three separate beings but three in one. It’s impossible for our minds to fully comprehend. All we really need to know is that God loves us so much that He came to live with us in human form as Jesus Christ the Messiah – God with us. He lived a sinless life while teaching us everything we need to live at peace with God and each other. But we didn’t recognize Him and put Him to death. Out of that immense tragedy comes forgiveness for all who recognize Jesus as the Son of God. New life, new hope, new healing and strength that is out of this world. Join us online or in person as we celebrate and learn more about this amazing, powerful truth.

For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. — Isaiah 9:6

What’s the true meaning of Christmas? Gifts. It’s about giving that perfect present and receiving something equally nice. Everyone’s happy. But how long does it last? Can you remember what you got five years ago – or even last year? The likelihood of anyone holding onto a gift for a lifetime is about zero. Think about that.

The Creator of the Universe gave humankind a perfect gift about 2,000 years ago. God’s Son came to live with us, die for us then return to life. His Spirit lives in the hearts of those who believe.

You are invited to open the most amazing gift ever. No batteries required. It comes with eternal power which heals and brings hope and peace. You can share it and pass it to a new generation. It never wears out. And it gets better with age.

The true meaning of Christmas is a gift that keeps on giving.

“Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favour with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High.” – Luke 1:30-32

While fully human, Jesus was also fully God. He was born to poor parents from nowhere, grew up like any other kid and took on his earthly father’s occupation. The angel then calls Jesus “the Son of the Most High.” Son in this case means having the same nature as the father.

Jesus is one of us. He’s the child is the one who knows what it’s like to have human parents, to play with other kids, to grow up and learn and trade and live an ordinary life. He ate and drank and laughed and cried. He knew pain. He showed us how to live. And despite living a sin-free life, he was executed like a criminal. His return to life proved that he was who he said he was. He lives today in the hearts of those who believe.

In this season of giving, this is the greatest gift in the world.

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12

These feel like dark times. The past few years have not been easy for many folks. Some are in a dark place. God sent His Son into the world to show us how to live. It’s way more than lifestyle. It’s about submission to the One who created us. Jesus taught and modeled the way to peace – with God, with each other and ourselves. It’s that last peace which can be the toughest to achieve. The spirit of this world (Satan) offers an easy way, which turns out to be a scam. Ask God to show Christ to you. His powerful Spirit will lead us out of the darkness. He made us, He knows us. He wants us to know Him. There’s no more powerful invitation in the world.

“Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, ‘Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?’ ‘No, Lord,’ she said. And Jesus said, ‘Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” John 8:10-11

This world can be pretty harsh. There are a lot of demands and we can be weighed down by burdens. Others can belittle us. We can even beat ourselves up. In God’s eyes we are not condemned. We are free to choose not to allow the enemy to get us down. Best of all, we can look forward to a perfect existence in the world to come. Choose Christ and allow His Spirit to transform you. Our eyes will be opened to the destructive power of sin and we will avoid it. New life awaits.
